By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Despite some wet weather on the west side, it sounds like the opener for lowland lakes was pretty good over the weekend. The town of Coconully in Okanogan County held its annual Opening Weekend Fishing Derby. According to their Facebook page. In the kids division, 1st place went to Will Hansen with a 2lb, 3 oz fish. 2nd place went to Chase Anderson, and 3rd to Gavin Byer. Both had 1lb 13oz fish. For the Adults, Rach Giovanchini caught a 4 lb, 6 oz for 1st place. Jesse Nicholson won 2nd with a 3.7 oz, and Bart Hetterle took third with a 2 lb, 10 oz fish. If you haven't taken the time to fish either lake at Conconully you're missing out. Spring is absolutely gorgeous in the area with the surrounding hillsides lush green, dotted with bright yellow arrowleaf balsamroot. You'll find plenty of hungry trout, bass and kokanee. The best part about being on the upper reservoir is that it's hard to get a cell signal, so you can unplug from the world for a while. Conconully is always on my must-do list for fishing trips. Until next time, Good Fishing!
