By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. The State Department of Fish and Wildlife has scheduled clam digging openings on Washington's coastal beaches starting today and running through next Wednesday. They also have digs scheduled for later this month starting April 19th. If you want to get the kids into sharing the great outdoors, clam digging is the way to go. If you go to our Facebook page today, I found some old pictures of my daughter Gracie digging clams with her grandpa. I also found some great pictures of her crabbing and skimming across the water behind my boat on a tube on the Columbia River. I fondly recall these times of not only sharing my love for the great outdoors but using those times as teachable moments. I'm not sure if Gracie has as fond memories as me, but I'm glad she willingly went along with her old man's adventures. Clam digging is a way to get kids involved and be successful right away. It doesn't usually take long to get their 15-clam limit and then let them just play in the sand and build sandcastles until the tide comes in. Make some memories of your own. Until next time, Good Fishing!
