For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Just as Dave teased on Monday, the Department of Fish and Wildlife has announced an opening for fishing sockeye on Lake Wenatchee starting an hour after daylight tomorrow morning. Now, if you haven't tried this fishery, you need to know the only public launch on the lake is at the State Park. Anglers will be lined up there in the overnight tonight to get launched in time for the opener. There's also not much of a dock area so if you launch, be ready to move your boat out of the way to the shore nearby or have a buddy motor out and come back to pick you up while you park the truck. The scenery on this body of water is breathtaking. As dawn breaks, the pink hues saturating the slopes of Glacier Peak are awe inspiring. Most of the boats will concentrate their efforts on the upper end of the lake where the Little Wenatchee River and White River empty into the lake. Remember, this fishery is barbless hooks with no bait or scent. I typically tie three red hooks with some beads and a mylar blade behind a dodger. Until next time, Good Fishing!
