By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. I'm sure you've heard the saying, "Boys and their Toys." Anyone around the fishing world knows that our hobby can easily get expensive rather quickly, if we allow it. It begins innocently enough with the purchase of some gear. Maybe just a few hooks and bait to go with a hand-me-down fishing rod. But as soon as you hook that first fish the hook may as well be lodged in the corner of your own mouth. A lifelong addiction is at hand. Of course, if this happens when you're young, you look for odd jobs around the house you can do to earn extra money to make more fishing purchases. Later in life, it's scratching out a few extra dollars per paycheck to spend on new gear. Soon, your arsenal of fishing rods, reels and tackle become big enough that you need a boat to put it in. At first, you start small. But then get bigger and bigger until you've got the boat and trailer of your dreams stuffed with thousands of dollars worth of accessories. And let's be honest, most fishing tackle is about hooking fishermen, not fish. Until next time, Good Fishing!
