I had the opportunity to fish Lake Roosevelt twice recently. Once I joined Shane Magnuson and his father-in-law Kyle Kelly and we had a great morning. We got six big kokanee and a couple of rainbow fishing near Spring Canyon. A couple of days later I was back, this time with Dennis Beich. Conditions were similar. That means wet and windy. We got two big kokanee on my favorite colors of Kokabow Fishing Tackle blades and spinners before the wheels fell off and I drug out gear over the shallow bar in front of the Spring Canyon launch. We tried a little while longer without success, and then pulled the boat and headed for Banks Lake. It was very windy here but we had three fish in no time, all on the same Dutch Fork Blue Tiger Turtleback blade. My bow mount ran out of juice and we struggled to keep the boat at the right speed and direction, but managed to get four more walleye. We fished for just three hours on Banks and I know if we had power in the electric and little more we would have done much better. A combo trip to these two lakes makes for a great day.
