The Colockum Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s annual banquet is this weekend at the fairgrounds in Cashmere. This event draws hundreds of hungry hunters and conservationists together to support elk by raising money through games, raffles and a silent and live auction…and don’t forget all the superb food! I know from experience you’ll see tons of people you know and meet some great new people along the way. Many Elk Foundation members are also supporters of groups like the Wenatchee Sportsmen’s Association. Speaking of which, WSA is in need of some help for next Thursday’s Wenatchee Valley College Foundation’s Fishing Derby. The Sportsmen’s Association provides tackle, bait and expertise for anglers paying for a chance to catch triploid Rainbow trout in the college’s fountain in the center of campus. It’s all part of WVC’s International Day Festival featuring eclectic foods, Mariachi music and karaoke. The cost for a rod and first fish is $3 with additional fish one dollar each. WVC students and their families fish for free. Again, the Wenatchee Valley College Foundation Fishing Derby is Thursday, May 19th. Go to www.wvc.edu for more information. Until next time, “Good Fishing!”
