The biggest pike minnow derby in the state is coming up on Fathers Day weekend again this year, and I wanted to make sure you knew about it in time to sign up. The East Wenatchee Rotary Club and the Chelan County PUD have once again partnered to bring you the 23rd Annual Pike Minnow Derby on June 18th and 19th this year. There will be over $10,000.00 in cash and prizes handed out between adult and youth categories. Tickets are $20.00 for adults and kids under the age of 14 can fish for free if fishing with adult ticket holder. Tickets are available at Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee and Bob Feil Boats and Motors and Bi-Mart in East Wenatchee. Derby headquarters will be at the park in Orondo. The derby is not only a lot of fun, anglers remove thousands of pike minnows from the Columbia and help save salmon and steelhead smolts to migrate downstream. There is a free seminar on how to catch pike minnows this year. I will be at Bob Feil Boats and Motors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14th. Don Talbot is the presenter at the seminar.
