By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I’m Eric Granstrom. If you’ve been trying to get updated information from the Department of Fish & Wildlife’s website, don’t bother for the time being. It’s been hacked and taken down. In the meantime, we’ll have to wait. Which brings me to a pretty important point my Dad rails on constantly…what if you don’t have access to the internet? My Dad lives in the boonies in Skagit County where internet is not an option. As a result, he has NO access to important updates from the Department of Fish & Wildlife…such as the corrections to the current Game Pamphlet or Emergency Closures on various fisheries. He has gone so far as to suggest a class-action lawsuit by the elderly in Washington against the Department for discrimination. I have to admit, he has a point. How does someone without access to the internet get the latest information and changes from the Department? Well, right now, it doesn’t matter because the entire Fish & Wildlife website is down. Does that give you an excuse to be a scofflaw? No. But it does provide a pause to ponder how dependent we’ve all become on electronic technology. Until next time, Good Fishing!
