Leavenworth is having their Kinderfest Celebration on 4th of July weekend, and families that plan to attend will have a new opportunity this year. The Trout Unlimited chapter in Leavenworth is inviting families with kids under the age of 15 to come down to the Blackbird Island Juvenile Fishing Pond and try their luck at catching some fish. On Monday, July 4th, volunteers from Trout Unlimited will be at the pond from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. with rods, reels and bait and will provide assistance with catching fish. There will be a table in the park where Trout Unlimited members will give interested families more information and even a map to find the fishing pond. The pond is full of planted trout for kids to catch throughout the summer, and this is great way to get visiting families introduced to the fun of fishing. I plan to be at the pond, as I do every year, to help make sure that the kids catch a fish. I hope to see you there. This is just one of the many projects and events that the Icicle Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited conducts each year to help promote the joy of fishing and the conservation of related resources.
