By Dave Graybill

The weather hasn’t really been cold, but anglers that want to chase walleye on Potholes Reservoir have been frustrated by high winds lately. The walleye bite is still good on the reservoir, but wind has forced those die hard walleye fishers to devote only the early morning hours to do their fishing. I also passed through Moses Lake recently and noticed that there are people fishing from the I-90 Bridge. I pulled over and went out to see how they were doing. It isn’t really hot, but perch are being caught here. There are some boats being launched at the park here, too, although the docks have been pulled for the winter. It may take a little looking for perch schools, but when found the action can be fast. This is also the time of year when some of the biggest rainbow are taken from Moses Lake. I have also heard that the fishing at Rocky Ford has not been great this early winter. I suspect that the heavy weed growth from the long warm fall hasn’t cleared off yet. I am going to wait until it gets a little colder for a while before I head down there.
