The free seminars on steelhead fishing at Pateros are less than a week away. Steelhead fishing continues to be very good in the Pateros area and on the Methow and Okanogan rivers. This is an opportunity to learn the best ways to catch steelhead and then you can go out and get ‘em. So don’t forget: Free steelhead fishing seminars at Pateros on Thursday, November 19th. A great dinner is offered starting at 5 and then the seminars at 6. For more information call Howard’s on the River at 509-923-2200. I got a call from Mike McKee about a trip he and his friends from the Wenatchee Fishing Form made to Omak Lake. He reported that they had a blast, catching huge numbers of Lahontan cutthroat. The cutts were in the 2- to 5-pound range and were caught trolling 90 feet deep with crank baits. This beautiful lake, which is eight miles long and 300 feet deep, is on the Colville Reservation just eight miles outside of the town of Omak. Anglers must use treble hooks and the limit is three fish. A tribal permit is required to fish the lake. It hardly gets any pressure and is open year round.
