The 4th Annual Tagged Trout Derby in Quincy was a big success again this year. There were 377 anglers participating and due to the placement of tagged fish in both Burke and Quincy lakes, more tagged fish were caught than any year before. A total of six trout were turned in to the weigh station wearing these tags, and one of them was worth $1,000.00! The other five lucky anglers received $100.00 each for their tagged trout. The Quincy Valley Tourism Association, organizers of the event, reminded everyone that if you catch a tagged trout in either Burke or Quincy Lake prior to June 1st to bring it to the Quincy Chamber of Commerce office. If it is one of the fish that was worth $2,000.00 on derby day, the angler that brings it in will be paid $500.00. My wife Eileen and I drove from Leavenworth all the way down to Wanapum Dam to see what the Columbia looked like with present river levels. I saw rocks and other structures I have never seen before. I would advise boaters to forget about going out on the water and people should stay off the exposed river banks and shorelines.
