As we move further into spring there are a whole bunch of annual events coming up. The first one is the “April Fools” trout opener in the Columbia Basin when nearly 50 lakes open to trout fishing. Most of these lakes are just south of Potholes Reservoir and offer the best spring fishing in our region. On Sunday, April 6th, the Central Washington Bass Club has their annual Garage Sale at the Grocery Outlet store on Wenatchee Avenue. This is a great place to find some super bargains on all kinds of fishing gear and other items. I will be there will a pile of stuff for sale. The first of many fishing events for kids takes place at Connelly Park in Moses Lake on Saturday, April 12th. The Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District has been working hard to get the park ready for this annual free trout derby. The launch bay will be loaded with rainbow, and there are some great prizes awarded, and there will be free hot dogs and Pepsi. You must preregister for the event and you can do so at the Lakes Deli or the Dairy Queen in downtown Moses Lake. I hope to see you there!
