There have been some changes popular Quincy tagged trout derby that is held on the first weekend of March each year. For their fourth annual derby, in addition to the tagged fish planted in Burke Lake, they are adding prize-winning fish in Quincy Lake, too. This doubles the potential prize money that derby sponsors could be handing out. Each lake will have a tagged trout worth $2,000.00, and another worth $1,000.000. This year every angler that catches a tagged fish that is not worth one of the big cash prizes will be paid $100.00. There are a whole range of awards for cash and prizes again at the derby. There is a big fish prize for both adult and youth and many other categories that anglers can win. To add to the fun the Quincy Valley Tourism Association, that sponsors the derby, will be adding about 100 fish that will range in size from 18 to 20 inches, and another 35 fish that will weigh between 5 and 7 pounds to each lake. So even if you don’t catch a prize winning trout, the fishing should be great. You can learn more about the derby and even register for the event by logging onto quincyvalleytourism.org.
