The biggest buzz in our region is about the kokanee fishing at Lake Chelan. There is a fleet working the lake already, and I am getting reports of varied success. The best report, verified by a photo, came from Anton Jones at Darrell and Dads Family Guide Service. In the photo he shows the results of one of his recent trips. Two anglers are holding up a stringer of fish, and there are 25 kokanee on it. It appears that they range in size from about 11 inches up to the big boys of 17 or 18 inches. He said he was working the lake to depths of 200 hundred feet and watching his sonar for schools. He suggests that anglers use the Macks Lure Double D dodge with a Macks Lure Cha Cha Squidder, baited with corn. The best speed is 1 to 1.5. If you didn’t get to the Wenatchee Sportsmen’s Show you probably didn’t hear that my brother Rick has a booklet out on kokanee fishing at Lake Chelan. This is a very complete guide, in full color, and you can get one at Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee. If you are out of the area, just give them a call and they will send you one. Cost is $9.99, plus shipping.
