By Dave Graybill

If you have been following my reports, I have had some very good fishing at Rufus Woods Reservoir. I have been trolling above Chief Joseph Dam and catching triploids that have weighed up to 7 and 8 pounds. Most of the fish are 4 or 5 pounds, and there are smaller fish in the mix, too. When I start talking about Rufus Woods I always get questions about the shore fishing. I have observed more people fishing from shore at the Corps of Engineers parks by Fisher and Murphy roads. My plan is to head up there Friday and give the fishing from shore a try myself. I want to see how the fishing is at the new public access just above the dam and at the one below the tower. I will also check on anglers at the other fishing accesses, and may even go up as far as Brandts Landing, which is known as a very good fishing area. Brandts Landing is about six miles above the dam on the east shore. It is also a Corps of Engineers park, with parking, fire boxes and restrooms. I will try a couple of different baits and let you how I do in my next report on Wednesday.
