If you enjoy fall trout fishing then you’d really like Fish Lake, near Lake Wenatchee right now. I fished here recently, to tape a TV Show on Fall Trout Tactics, and I sure picked a great place. My new boat isn’t due to arrive for rigging until November 8th, so the folks at the Cove Resort let me use one of their pontoon boats, which worked great. I wanted to try several different lures for the fall rainbow. I started with a High Lake Special, which is only available at the Cove Resort, and bait with worm. This worked great and claimed a lot of fish. Next I tried a Macks Lure Promise Keeper spinner, and it also caught a few trout. One of my favorites year-round is an F-4 frog pattern Flatfish, rigged barbless with a single siwash hook, and this worked very well and probably caught the biggest fish of the day. I caught a couple on a Rapala Shad Rap, too. The High Lake Special and the Flatfish were most effective when I added a couple of split shot about two feet ahead of the lure. We tried trolling Wooly Bugger flies on sinking lines, and this worked the best of all. Fall fishing at Fish Lake great, no matter what you use!
