I can’t believe that I have mentioned it yet, but I wanted to be sure and remind anglers that Jameson Lake is open the month of October. Many consider this the best time fish at Jameson, as there are very good numbers of rainbow available from the earlier plants in the season, and this is the time that some of the biggest fish of year are taken. The great fall weather we’re having reminded me of the great time my wife and I had fishing there last fall. The water was tined with the algae that have been present for the past few seasons, but it didn’t hurt the fishing. We tried quite a few different approaches, but the best action came when we started trolling flies. Black, bead-head Wooly Buggers were the favorite of the Jameson rainbow, and we caught and released a bunch. We saw a fellow land a whopper from the shore on the way to the launch, and found out later that it weighed just over 4 pounds. This guy had only been fishing for a half-hour when the big rainbow hit. Both resorts are open for business and the fishing should be excellent right up to the end of the season, at the end of October.
