By Dave Graybill

Ice fishing action at Fish Lake, near Lake Wenatchee, is going full tilt now, and the lake is covered with cold-weather anglers on the weekends. I was amazed at the number of people out enjoying the sport of ice fishing when I visited the lake last weekend. I don’t think I have ever seen as many people in the winter here. Better yet, everyone I chatted with was catching fish. Perch were being pulled through the ice at a great clip. I wanted to remind anglers to keep their catches of perch within reason. In the first place, I don’t why people would want to catch 50 to 100 perch every time they go out. I would get tired of filleting that many perch, and what would I do with that many fish? I like perch as much as anyone, but come on! When you log onto FishingMagician.com next time, look for the Fish Stamp button on my navigation bar. Legislation has been introduced to put a $15.00 stamp on licenses next year for anglers who fish the upper Columbia from just below the Vernita Bridge all the way upstream, including the tributaries. This will help assure fishing on area streams when we get enough fish. You can learn all about it by clicking on the Salmon Stamp button.
