By Dave Graybill

I mentioned earlier that my favorite line for bobber and jig fishing is no longer being made. So, I did some internet searching for an alternative. I found some floating monofilament line that is designed for bobber fishing, and I am going to give it a try. One is made by TAAR Fishing, and it is designed for center pin reel casting, which makes me think it would work, as this technique requires control of the float a long ways down the river. The other one I ordered is from Blood Run Tackle Company, and what I like about it is that it comes in a very hi-vis green color. This should help when fishing on the flat grey days of winter. My brother Rick read my report and told me that he had tried a floating mono from Raven that worked well, but what he is using now is called FireLine Thermally Fused Tough line. The line has a lot of body, so it doesn’t tip wrap like the Power Pro, and it comes in a hi-vis color. I also wanted to say that my favorite line for tying stop knots is a fly line backing called TUF-LINE.
