By Dave Graybill

The last bass tournament of the year was held last weekend on Banks Lake. For many years bass anglers have competed in the annual Frostbite Tournament, with varying success. I talked to Gary at Coulee Playland, and he said this year’s tourney was a tough one. Water temperatures are still hovering in the mid to low 50s, and bass anglers usually have better success when the water has cooled a bit more. I was able to find the results for Saturday and was impressed with the poundage that was weighed in. Paul Hall and Andy Smith were at the top of the list on Saturday with 16.42 pounds followed by Nathan and Jason Portch with 16.33 pounds. I couldn’t find Sunday’s results, but according to Gary these anglers switched places and Nathan and Jason won the tourney. Paul Hall and Andy Smith placed second. You may be able to find the full results for Sunday by searching Banks Lake Frostbite Tournament on Facebook. Gary also said that the walleye fishing on Banks Lake should improve with cooler water temperatures as well, and that the whitefish have not yet moved to the inlet or the lower end of the for lake spawning.
