By Dave Graybill

There are some people that I really like to take fishing on Lake Wenatchee. Bill Westerbrook and his wife Sabrina are good examples. This pair has a great time, and I get a big kick about how enthused Sabrina gets when we’re out there. She doesn’t miss a bite on one of the rods and his constantly telling husband Bill to watch his pole! She also knows I like donuts and brings some whenever we go. I took these two sockeye fishing last Sunday and Sabrina landed the first fish of the morning at 5:40, which is the earliest I have landed a sockeye this season. Bill made sure the hooks were removed and the fish were bonked, and got to reel in his share of fish, too. One time, we had a fish on the deck, and I heard someone yell—FISH. I thought we were crowding a boat that had a fish on, but it was Kyle Kelly telling me that we had a fish on. We were busy unhooking another sockeye and didn’t notice the rod bouncing. We were pretty busy in the morning, and they landed their limits. We had a really fun time. Three red hooks did the job for me.
