Thursday, July 4, 2024

By Dave Graybill

Even though July 4th lands on a Thursday this year, it’s still one of the biggest holiday weekends of the summer. Families from all over the state will be traveling to their favorite campgrounds, resorts or fishing spots, and many of them are here in Central Washington. This is also boating season, and it’s important to know what the conditions are on the Columbia River, where many boaters either fish or recreate. Fishing on the Columbia this year is attracting more attention than usual due to the huge return of sockeye salmon to the region. Fortunately, there is a free App that will give you the river flows at Rock Island Dam and Rocky Reach Dam. It’s very easy to find the App and download it for free. Just go to my website at www.fishingmagician.com and click on the Ready.Check.Launch logo on the right hand side of the page. This will open the Chelan County PUD website with instructions on where to click to download the App. River flows are high right now and it is even more important to know if it’s safe to launch to fish near these sites. Have a safe and fun 4th of July weekend.
