I have been focusing on getting ready for the July 22nd opening of sockeye fishing on Lake Wenatchee, but I am getting a welcome distraction. I have been invited to fish with my friend Brian Anantatmula for sockeye on the Brewster Pool. Brian has taken me sockeye fishing in Brewster several times over the years and we always have a great time. I also really enjoy seeing folks on the water that either follow my reports or watch my videos. I really appreciate the kind compliments I get. Makes my day. I was on Austin Moser’s boat shooting video a couple of weeks ago, and the fishing was fantastic then. There should be thousands more sockeye in the Pool now, so I expect the action to be even better. I was at Hooked on Toys the other day, watching the video feed from the fish ladder at Rocky Reach Dam. The sockeye that are swimming by the camera are so bright! As most of you know, sockeye are the premium salmon for table fare that we get in the upper Columbia. There’s nothing better than having a freezer full of them, or prepared fresh on the grill.
