For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. I saw a Facebook post on Area1-13 Fishing and Crabbing of someone landing some big crab off the dock at Tokeland south of Westport. I suggested to Marion a "road trip" and we were off Friday night for the 5-plus hour drive. The tides worked out so we didn't have to be there too early Saturday, so after sleeping in, we found quite a crowd at the dock. In fact, there were few places to park or put our traps into the water. We crabbed all day without a single keeper. We were back by 7 o'clock Sunday morning to find crabbing didn't pick up at all on the following tide. It was decision time. Let's just say we got to Costco in time to buy three crabs for $36. While I was at it, I also bought some lobster tails. I, for one, am happy to let 2023 go and look forward to 2024. It was a tough fishing year for this guy. On the drive home, I was lamenting to Marion about my inability to really put her on the fish this year and she reminded me, "that's why they call it fishing!" So true. Until next time, Good Fishing!
