By Eric Granstrom

I'm Eric Granstrom. I arrived home tonight to find my wife had a present for me. Countless times over the past several years, we have found ourselves on the road on various adventures with no fishing rods or tackle with us. On the kitchen counter laid an Instant Fisherman telescoping fishing rod. The handle folds twice so the whole thing is only 10-inches long in the "stowed" position. Fully extended, the rod is 5-feet long. At first, I thought it was a great idea and would come in handy to just throw it under the seat in the truck and have it ready to fish no matter where we went. But upon closer inspection, I found that the spin-cast reel wasn't working. I took the handle apart and disassembled the reel to find a wad of backlashed fishing line inside. After clearing it, the reel still wouldn't work. The handle also wouldn't crank. I jumped online to see if I could find some help, but all I found was a video review saying the Instant Fisherman fishing rod was the worst fishing invention out there. Well, it's the thought that counts. I'll keep searching. Until next time, Good Fishing!
