By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Three years ago today, my Mom passed away after an 8-year battle with dementia. I was in my Dad's kitchen the next day telling him, "Get ready, we're going hunting!" And we did, spending tireless hours chasing game. Any fisherman knows what it feels like to be good-tired. It's when you're exhausted from getting up at oh-dark-30 for days-on-end pursuing your favorite pastime. I have a good-tired going on right now. Not from fishing, but from hunting. I was drawn for an archery cow tag this season and I've been hunting all week with my Dad, who will be 80 in January. He doesn't have a tag. He says he just wanted to be here as "back up" for my hunt. It's given us the opportunity to spend countless hours going to and from the hunting grounds, sharing stories we've lived and re-lived countless times. To say the least, I'm soaking up every ounce of this opportunity because I know they are limited. My good-tired is not only from a lack of sleep, but from my muscles and joints being put to the task, scaling ridges and valleys of elk habitat. Until next time, Good Fishing!
