By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. There's a saying older folks use when looking back at their youth and say, "man, if I only knew then what I know now." I take a different approach. "If only I could live as care-free now as I did then." Of course, that doesn't mean throwing caution into the wind and believing my 54-year-old body will somehow magically have the resiliency of the joints of a 10-year-old. But if you had just a moment where you go boldly step into the unknown without fear, would you do it? I can look back at fishing trips I took as a kid, all by myself, and say, "what was I thinking?" Now days, if I walked the three miles from my Dad's house, along the Pilchuck and took the trail to the Moon Hole without a sidearm or some bear spray, I'd be nuts. Back then? I thought nothing of it. I guess the pressures of responsibilities with work, family, bills, and life pack with them the apprehension of having to worry about tomorrow. As a kid, the carefree steps along a slippery path are a mere challenge, not a fret. Oh, to be young again. Until next time, Good Fishing!
