By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Funny how you can foray into the forest and find yourself feeling free. Falling down and facing up on a fluffy carpet of fallen foliage. Filling your lungs with fall air while focusing your foggy mind on the furthest thing from it, freedom. We often get caught up in the day-to-day, concrete existence swirling in a sea of "Have-To's" and not a lot of "Want-To's." That's when it's time to venture away from the blacktop and find yourself again in a place where the air is so clean it hurts your lungs. Taking in that deep breath that causes your head to spin yet clears your conscience. There are two places in the world that help shake the cobwebs of the daily grind and help me feel the visceral connection I long for. One is on Fish Lake near Lake Wenatchee this time of year. Taking a boat onto the water, even in the middle of a rainstorm, and viewing the brilliant colors that cup the lake like a firey crown. The other is on the edge of a clearing at daylight on the opening morning of hunting season. I hope you find your fall too. Until next time, Good Fishing!
