For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Marion and I had a free weekend so we headed for Billy Clapp Lake to do some fishing. The water level is in great shape with the dock ready to launch any sized boat. The winds were stiff and thunderheads were rolling across the horizon Saturday and the bite was off. Sunday was completely different with sunshine and hardly a breath of wind and we were able to catch two, nice limits of rainbow trout. We were trying for kokanee using dodgers, hoochies and dyed corn, but were certainly happy to have rainbow as a by-catch. We got all of our gear in the water and caught our first fish by 7am. I figured the fish would be closer to the surface in the early morning hours so the downriggers were set with lines at 10, 20, 30 and 40 feet. At first, I had the gear 100-pulls back from the downrigger clips, but shortened to 50-pulls as the morning went along. We mostly trolled around the basalt island in 80-feet deep water but also caught fish trolling outside in up to 120-feet of water. You can see the video on our Facebook page. Until next time, Good Fishing!
