Monday, May 9th I wanted to let you know that Chelan PUD is planning a drop-in learning session about Tumwater Dam on Thursday, May 19 at Chelan County Fire District 3 Fire Hall in Leavenworth. According to Rachel Hansen, Senior Communications Strategist, you can stop by anytime from 4-7 p.m. They are also planning an online survey to learn more about community perspectives with regard to Tumwater Dam. There will be posters and infographics displayed that will help explain the history, the planned maintenance project, and the current uses of the dam. They will also have fish biologists from Grant PUD and Chelan PUD on hand. The staff that works the counting station at Tumwater Dam is very familiar with me, as I am constantly pressing my nose against the fence to find out how many sockeye have passed over the dam during the sockeye return. I am very interested in learning what the plans are for this feature on the Wenatchee River, and what they learn about community perspectives regarding the dam. I will attend this event and I would hope to see others there who want to get all the information they can about future plans for the dam.

I keep track of the sockeye returns to Lake Wenatchee by visiting the staff at the fish ladder at Tumwater Dam.
