For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. I added an extra day to my weekend last weekend and headed west to do some crabbing with my Dad. I arrived Thursday night late to hear there was no hurry to get up early the next day because of the tides. High water was in the early morning hours and low water was after noon. We have found crabbing on the ebb resulted in a lot of females in our pots rather than male Dungeness crab. We were on the water Friday putting our first pot in the water at 2 o'clock. We were in the "Jimmy" boat, a 16-foot Smoker Craft Alaskan Dad bought from our buddy Jimmy Grover. Worried about someone picking our pots, we anchored a short distance away and kept an eye out while we enjoyed the cool breeze on the water. We ended up with four "Dungies" and six Red Rock crab. We brought my soon-to-be brother in-law Tim Saturday and returned with 14-Dungies and 13-Rocks. One more outing Sunday morning netted us 5-Dungies and 4-Rocks. We fished mostly off Salmon beach inside Deception Pass in 30-to-50 feet of water off the channel. Until next time, Good Fishing!
