By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Summer is winding down. The kids are heading back to school. And Labor Day Weekend will be upon us before you know it. Sounds like a perfect time to fit in some season-ending fishing to me! Three years ago, Marion and I followed a hot tip and headed to Deep Lake at Sun Lakes-Dry Falls State Park. I'd never fished this body of water before, which is a basalt-rimmed lake just past Park Lake on SR-17 and south of Coulee City. I brought my typical kokanee setup and it wasn't long before we had rods dancing with yummy kokanee filling our live-well. The state limit is 10-kokanee per person here and we had our 20 within three hours. Kokabow blades, spinners and hoochies worked best with pink-dyed corn with Kokanee formula from Northwest Bait and Tackle. It was this time of year that we were able to load up here and we had hardly any company on the water. Three days of fishing had my smoker filled with kokanee for days. I made them into a giant cracker spread for a family get together and it was a great hit. Until next time, Good Fishing!
