I mentioned earlier that the Quincy Chamber of Commerce wasn’t going to have a trout derby this year. However, I have since learned that it won’t be the same event, but they are going to have something special for kids. There is no need to register. Chamber folks will be at both access points on Burke Lake and every kid that comes to fish will get a goodie bag. The goodie bags will be handed out on Saturday March 6th, starting at 7 a.m., and then at 1 p.m. kids are to go back to the same locations and receive a prize, while they last. Thanks to the Quincy community there are lots of great prizes for the kids. Also, there will be a photo contest. People can send fishing photos to the Quincy Chamber and the winners will receive a share of prizes valued at $1,000. The folks in Quincy wanted to do something to celebrate the beginning of trout fishing, which opens March 1st on Burke Lake and several other lakes near Quincy. To have something for the kids, in a COVID-safe way is the answer. So, grab the kids and head for Burke Lake on Saturday, March 6th.
