By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. After a late night covering racing at Wenatchee Valley's Super Oval Saturday night, I was up at 3:30 Sunday morning to catch a ride with John and Amy Gustin to fish the Brewster Pool. We'd heard good reports coming in about anglers having success still catching sockeye stuck in the Columbia by the thermal barrier at the mouth of the Okanogan. What a difference a few weeks and other waters opening makes! The launch at Brewster was barren as we drove up at daylight. We all remarked at how few camps were left around the park. Of course, since the fracas of the opener and enticing first two weeks here, Lake Wenatchee opened for sockeye and the Buoy 10 season opened, helping to spread the crowds and thin the herd at Brewster. We fished for a good hour before we hooked our first fish. There was fish on the screen and hundreds of sockeye and kings surfacing and jumping. We just had a heck of a time luring any to bite. We ended the day at Noon with three fish. The weather was perfect and it was great to spend time with friends. Until next time, Good Fishing!
