By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. The one thing Mom loved was a good laugh. Her cheeks would get rosy and her blue eyes would flush with tears as laughter filled the kitchen. Let's face it, that's where most good get togethers happen! Looking back on most of the fond memories of sitting around, telling stories and laughing, they all took place in the kitchen. We're heading to the Astoria area this weekend to spread some of Mom's ashes. She wanted to have part of her near where she grew up and where her Mom is buried. Thinking back, one of Mom's favorite stories was of she and Dad fishing Puget Sound near Strawberry Island. They hooked into a giant king salmon. It took them 30-minutes of avoiding kelp beds and currents until Dad finally coaxed it into the net. A net that was much too small so when he heaved it into the boat, it sprang free knocking them both to the deck. They laughed hysterically while Dad tried to thump it and not hit Mom. I'm sure we'll retell that story this weekend. Later, more of her ashes will be spread at Strawberry Island. Until next time, Good Fishing!
