By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. It's that time of year where the boat needs to be winterized and protected from the elements. Marion and I are in the process of looking into putting a pole building up on our place, but that won't help us before this winter. The garage is still stuffed with stuff OTHER than vehicles and there's no room for the boat. So what to do? I remembered a trip I took to Bob Feils last year about this time. They wanted our TV station to do a commercial about their winterization specials, including shrink-wrapping your boat. I'd seen the end product of a shrink wrap, but never how it's done. So I got a behind-the-scenes look of how they do it. It starts with a plastic cover, kind of like any other boat cover. It has a draw string around the bottom. They stretch lines from the bow to the stern, making a tent, put the cover on and shrink it with a flame thrower. It shrinks the plastic and forms a tight cover around your boat, protecting it from winter's nastiness. You can see the video today on our Facebook page. Until next time, Good Fishing!
