By Dave Graybill

Our wedding anniversary is coming up and my wife Eileen and I usually go out for a nice dinner. She also suggested that we go fishing that morning. You see, I have been laid up for a while and haven’t been able to get out in the boat. She wants to go to Manson and fish Wapato Lake and Roses Lake. We will probably start the day on Lake Chelan. We will be fishing for bass, crappie and bluegill on Wapato and Roses. We have fished all three lakes in a day before and have had a great time. I have wanted to get to Wapato for quite a while. You see, some of the biggest bluegill you can find anywhere in the state are in Wapato Lake. There are some dandy largemouth bass in here, too. I have fished Roses Lake many times for bass and bluegill and had a blast. The biggest smallmouth on Lake Chelan are always caught in the spring, but cruising around the lower basin and casting to the docks can make for a fun time in late summer. It will sure be fun to get back out on the water in the Kingfisher. I am really looking forward to it.
