I usually forget to remind people about the free days that come up occasionally from the State Parks, but not this time. On Thursday, August 25th you can visit any of our Washington State Parks for free. The day pass to our parks is usually $10.00 but is being waved on this particular day to help celebrate the 100th Anniversary of our National Park system. The National Park Service was established on August 25, 1916, and think how many people have enjoyed them over ten decades. It was forward thinking to realize how important it would be to set aside these special lands for generations to come. It continues to be the goal of the National Park Service and the Washington State Parks. I hope you can gather up the family and enjoy the day at one of our State Parks, or set up the barbeque and have an outdoor cook out somewhere. We are fortunate to have an extensive park system here in Washington that serves millions of people every year. I take advantage of the boat launches at many of them throughout the year, and wouldn’t have this access to many great fisheries without them.
