Whew. It has been cookin’ hot lately. It has been 100 degrees on Lake Chelan to put a nice tan on the anglers fishing for kokanee. Action up here continues to be good, although the really big fish are getting scarce. Someone reminded me that the fish that we call small now would have been whoppers not so long ago. Good news for those who plan on participating in the East Wenatchee Rotary Club’s annual Pikeminnow Derby this Father’s Day Weekend. The temperature should be about 20 degrees cooler. That will make for very nice conditions. Still need tickets? You will find them at Bob Feil Boats and Motors, Bi-Mart, and Hooked on Toys. I am getting reports of excellent bass fishing on many of our area lakes, not just the usual spots like Potholes, Moses Lake and Banks Lake. Smaller lakes are producing good catches. Some to check out are Wapato Lake, Roses Lake, Evergreen Reservoir and Park and Blue lakes. It just got word that the Grande Ronde River will open to spring salmon fishing on June 13th. The limit will be seven hatchery Chinook per day, of which only two may be adults. Check the news release for boundaries and other details.
