By Dave Graybill

There are a lot of good options for anglers here in Eastern Washington. There are spring salmon being caught on the Wenatchee River. Potholes Reservoir, Moses Lake and Banks Lake are producing very good numbers of walleye, and of all things our area steams are fishing shape more than a month ahead of schedule. Walleye in Banks Lake are plentiful but small. Everything changes on Banks on July 1st when the rules change. Instead of five walleye over 16 inches, anglers will be able to keep eight fish over 12 inches, with one over 22 inches in this bag allowed. It will be limit fishing for walleye at Banks when this goes into effect. Not all streams, but many of them are now fishable. I know that the Teanaway, which I usually don’t consider fishing until mid to late July is at perfect wading flows now. The Icicle is just a tad high, but I bet I can fish it by next week. I would check on your favorite stream and get on it early and often. It may be down to a trickle later this summer. I plan to hit Billy Clapp for kokanee soon, and I will be sure to share what I learn.
