It’s Father’s Day Weekend on June 20th, and many families have plans to get together with Dad. This will be my first Father’s Day without my father, who passed away a short time ago. It was a tradition for my brother Rick and I to take him fishing. We would often travel to one of the area lakes in search of perch. We all loved to eat perch and catching them was fun, too. Due to the time of year we often fished for walleye on Moses Lake. Even if the weather was rough, Rick would always know where to find the walleye. One of our favorites was Rufus Woods. We would lecture Dad on how to hook the triploids, and then he would proceed to catch more and bigger fish than we did. Because we traveled some distance in pursuit of good fishing for Dad we were often late for the family gathering. After a few years everyone learned to accept our tardiness, knowing these were special times for the three of us. I will miss these Father’s Day outings and have great memories of them. I hope you get together with your Dad and perhaps make some memories of your own out on the water somewhere.
