By Dave Graybill

Eric Granstrom and I are in the Columbia River Gorge near Biggs, once again attending Fish Camp. This annual event invites writers, broadcasters and other media types to get together with manufacturers of outdoor products. We spend each morning fishing on the Columbia River in this area, and then the afternoon getting information on the products that are represented there. Usually we have the choice of fishing for walleye, bass, sturgeon, steelhead and salmon. Fishing for all of these species is excellent at this time of year in the vicinity of Biggs. However, there was such a great return of fall salmon to the river last year we fished for salmon every day. This year it will probably be the same, given the all-time record return of fall Chinook. The camp, which is organized by Ed Iman, provides people like Granstrom and I with lots of good material. I come back with lots to say about the fishing and many of the products I learn about are mentioned in my reports or are featured in my TV shows. It’s a win-win for everyone involved. I can’t wait to share what I learn with you when I get back.
