If you are wondering how the smallmouth bass fishing is at Banks Lake, I have good news for you. It is red hot. I took a pair of anglers that bought a trip with the Wenatchee Sportsmen’s Association auction with me there on Thursday, and we had great fishing. We estimated that conservatively we caught at least 100 smallmouth. They kept some for the pan, but we released a ton of fish and missed too many hits to count. We ran down from the Northrup launch to a spot that I found on my last trip there on the west shore and went to work. We used the three-inch Senkos in green pumpkin and had good action right off the bat. Later in the day we tried the cinnamon non-flake with good success and the four-inch green watermelon lizards were very good, too. I started below the big haystack rock and just kept moving up the bank. We hit a few dead spots, but for the most part there were fish all along here. We got several in the 2- to 3-pound class, but most of them were smaller, maybe ten inches to a half-pound. You want some good smallmouth action? Get to Banks Lake!
