Rivers in the region have cleared of ice, warmed up and are providing steelhead anglers with much better action than earlier this season. Very chilly weather had stalled fishing on the Methow, Entiat, Wenatchee, and Okanogan rivers but things have changed drastically. The Methow River is loaded with fish and anglers are taking them on bobbers and jigs, flies and Corkies and yarn way upstream now, and not in the Miller Hole. Those who are hitting the few holds available to anglers on Entiat are taking fish daily. Word on the Wenatchee is that fly fishing is tough but pulling plugs will get fish to strike. I am very anxious to get out on the Okanogan River. I got a chance to fish it last year at this time and it was red hot. I was surprised at not only the number of steelhead we took on our float, but the size and quality was better than I expected. There is good access along the shores of all the rivers now, and the Wenatchee and Okanogan are particularly ideal for drifting now. I am also anxious to get down to Rocky Ford with my fly rod. I am hearing of some great days on the Ford.
