By Dave Graybill

It looks like the fishing for triploid rainbow at Rufus Woods Reservoir is coming out of the doldrums. I have had a couple of reports of improved fishing recently. Joe Heinlen of Lake Chelan Adventures had his best day in quite a while, boating a dozen keepers. He is still trying to beat the 18-pounder he took last month. I also talked to Bob Stroup of the Icicle Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited. This group tries to make a couple of trips to the net pens every year, and their last one turned out great. Everyone caught fish and they netted a bunch that weighed from 7 to 11 pounds. They took over the beach just below the pens and cast their baits from the shore. This chapter of Trout Unlimited has a reputation for working hard, and playing hard, too. There was good food, good company and good fishing for them on this latest outing. I am also still getting good reports from Lake Roosevelt. Trolling for rainbow and kokanee is providing steady action for those who are traveling to this big impoundment above Grand Coulee Dam. Rainbow are running a fat 15 inches and larger, and kokanee to 6 pounds have been landed this winter.
