By Dave Graybill

I made a trip to Rocky Ford Creek late last week. I was interested to see for myself if the fishing is as good as advertised. It was. Not only did my fishing buddy and I land over 20 big rainbow, most everyone we saw fishing was doing great, too. The fish we caught weighed from about 2 ½ to 5 pounds, and were very frisky. Rollie was using a 5-pound test tipped and was broken off three times. I was using a 7-pound tippet and I was broken off three times, too! We are both going to beef up our leaders and tippets for the next trip. Once again, the Jeremy’s Leech and Ultra Scud combo proved to be highly attractive to the rainbow at Rocky Ford. Most of the fish were taking the scud, stripped in behind the leech, but a couple hit the leech as soon as it hit the water. There are some very aggressive fish cruising the Ford right now. It makes me think that some of the other quality waters in our region must be fishing darn good right now, too. Blue Lake in the Sinlahekin, Lenice and Nunnally and others come to mind.
