It appears that the weather is going be more like fall for the coming weekend. Not really cold, but not pushing 90 degrees as it did earlier this week. That’s good news really, for anglers that are looking for fall trout action and steelhead on the area rivers. Cooler weather is what’s needed to get the trout bite going on most of the lakes. Fly fishers are champing at the bit for the bite to come on at Lenore and Dry Falls lakes. This can be prime time at these ponds, as well as Blue Lake up north. Streams in the region are very low and although there are steelhead present in these waters, an increase in flow wouldn’t hurt. Maybe the first lake I should have mentioned is Jameson. This is lake is famed for its late-season fishery. It is the only one I am aware of that opens for just on month, from October 1st to the 31st, and many anglers fish this late season only. Trout that were planted in Jameson last fall have had all spring and summer to grow and they really do grow in the rich waters of Jameson. Two of my favorites in fall are just north of Chelan. Roses is great for rainbow and Antillon for browns.
