After the First Fish Ceremony at the Colville Tribal Hatchery in Bridgeport everyone was treated to a lunch that included traditionally cooked salmon.

Chad Jackson, of the Department of Fish and Wildlife office in Ephrata, and I tried for kokanee at Billy Clapp, but settled for some smallmouth bass fishing.

Everyone that has fished at Billy Clapp Reservoir, near Soap Lake, is familiar with this big basalt island. I have caught kokanee around it before, but not this year.
