For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. The ravages of winter weather and shortened daylight mean I'll be spending more time indoors that out these days. I began wondering about the availability of motion pictures about fishing I could watch to pass the time. Of course, there's A River Runs Through It and The Old Man and the Sea. But beyond that, I was stumped to think of many more. I jumped on the old, trusty Google machine and came up with the top-5 according to IMDb.
#1 - The Silver Horde from 1930 about a salmon fisherman has to choose between a bad girl and a society doll.
#2 - Tiger Share from 1932 about a tuna fisherman who marries a woman who doesn't love him.
#3 - Riffraff from 1935 about a fisherman who marries a cannery worker who quits his job to for a union for better working conditions.
#4 - Captains Courageous from 1937 about a spoiled brat who falls overboard and picked up by a fishing boat.
#5 - Spawn of the North from 1938 about two men on opposite sides of a salmon fishing conflict.
Guess we could use a new one. Until next time, Good Fishing!
